My Kids

We’ve been listening to a lot of Christmas songs in our house these past few weeks.  There’s a lot of piano and guitar and homemade maracas shaking.  There have been Christmas play rehearsals during dinner and endless amounts of dancing.  Dancing, dancing, everywhere!  We’ve transitioned to Pandora so we can listen to it alllllll day without growing tired of the same songs over and over.

Christmas is a wonderful yet hectic time of year.  Our family is six months into our renovation and move.  …we live in chaos.  But it will end soon!!  That’s what I keep telling myself anyway.  Despite the packing boxes in our living room, the fact that I packed our gingerbread cookie cutters and the blender for our egg nog milkshakes, and that we had to go to the new house and get our Christmas tree tonight. sigh…there are plenty of beautiful things and people right here.  In the middle of this mess.  Just look at that video above.  Pure, unadulterated joy.  That’s what I’m choosing to focus on today.

Do you recognize that face up there?  Yep, that’s me.  I’ve been fortunate to be a WaterWipes ambassador this year and from fall fun days to messy moments at home WaterWipes has been there and had my back.  These chemical free baby wipes are amazing!  Their gentleness makes them the perfect baby wipe, face and hand wipe.  If you haven’t tried them yet, what are you waiting for?  Go here to see which locations in your area sell them.

If I could change the conversation I would encourage moms to focus on the beautiful moments that are in life.  Sure there are a lot of messy moments but there’s a lot of joy to be found when you can appreciate the beauty while standing in the middle of a mess.  Trust me, I should know.  I mean, did you see my living room? 😉

Fall Fun Day

Fall reminds me of thick sweaters, sweet apple cider, colorful leaves, and our annual Fall Fun Day!  We had our fun day this past weekend and was very, well, fun!  The weather was cool, the pumpkins were plentiful, and games abounded.

Fall Coloring

We had tables laid out for kids to color their hearts out.  My daughter especially liked the glitter leaf stickers laying around just begging to be used.

WaterWipes Pumpkin Painting

The kids painted pumpkins using brushes, sponges, and glitter paints.  I may not be a kid any longer but I still love glitter paints.  We tried cleaning up with dry paper towels till it dawned on me that I had a pack of WaterWipes in my diaper bag.  I’m a WaterWipes Ambassador so I’m always prepared!  They were perfect for cleaning up little painted fingers!

Tic Tac TossTic Tac Toss was a favorite among kids of all ages.  The wall was made of felt and the little balls had velcro dots on them.  My son had to wait a long time for the older kids to occupy themselves with other things before he got the chance to play.  He’s obsessed with balls so this was his favorite activity of the day.  I wonder how hard it would be to make this Tic Tac Toss wall for our playroom?  Hmm, maybe that would be a fun and cheap Christmas gift!

Fall Play Doh Fun

Play-Doh is always a favorite!  Kids old and young love Play-Doh with cookie cutters.

WaterWipes Face Painting

Face painting was a hit with kids of all ages and WaterWipes came in handy to save messy fingers again!  Chemical free wipes make erasing accidental painting errors easy without causing skin irritation.  I love those things! {Visit WaterWipes.com to learn more!}  My daughter chose to get a football on her arm because she loves to watch the Georgia Bulldogs play football with her daddy. 🙂  I think she loves her special time with her daddy more than the does the game.  I love their relationship – so sweet!

Ski ball

An inflatable ski ball?  Yes, oh yes!  With all the rain and high winds we had to improvise from our usual outdoor bounce house.  Wind + bounce house = dangerous!  I had never seen an inflatable ski ball game before but it was a blast.

Our fall is off to a great start!  We still have our annual fall photo session, trip to the pumpkin patch (taking care of that tomorrow!), jack-o-lantern carving, watching It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and of course Halloween (or Costume Day as my daughter calls it).

What fall traditions does your family have?

Baby Boy

Besides myself, every member of my house has allergies.  Okay, I’m allergic to pollen and dust but that’s it.  Everyone else has to have special lotions, laundry detergent, and has to avoid certain foods.  My daughter could only use a certain brand of baby wipes so I had to give away all others that I was gifted.  My son was the same way, only one brand of wipes would do or he would break out.  Even with these ultra sensitive wipes would still break out their faces.  I’ve told my husband for years now that I wish a company would just make water wipes, wipes with just water.  He suggested that I make my own with paper towels but I knew they wouldn’t have the same softness that wipes had.  I even went so far as to dry out a pack of baby wipes and later add water to them…but as you probably guessed, that didn’t work.  The chemicals were still in the wipes.

Guess what, ya’ll?  A company DID MAKE WATER WIPES and they call them just that, WaterWipes.  WaterWipes is a chemical free baby wipe that contains only TWO ingredients.  99.9% purified Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract.  When I found out I bought a big old box of them right away and I haven’t looked back.  They are perfect for cleaning messy faces (without breaking them out – woo!), cleaning grimy high chairs, and so much more!  I love them!  Seriously, if you know me in real life, you know you’ve already heard about these at least once by now.  Because I have mad love for these things I was chosen to be a WaterWipes Ambassador and I couldn’t be more pleased.  Be on the lookout for more mentions of WaterWipes on my blog over the next few months.

WaterWipes

In addition to my son’s sensitive skin allergies he’s also allergic to dairy and soy.  Which you may not realize is in every food that exists….kidding, but only slightly.  On top of allergies, he has an aversion to eating and will soon be seeing two therapists on a weekly basis to help him eat better.  Long story short, I need to make eating as fun as possible.  WaterWipes help me do that by cleaning him up without having to give him a bath directly afterward (three times a day) or wipe him down with a harsh wet paper towel.  I keep a pack of WaterWipes handy by our high chair at home and never leave home without a pack in my diaper bag.

Because I already had a stockpile of another brand I continued using the sensitive baby brand wipes for my lil one’s diaper changes.  That is, until he had a stomach bug that lasted 9 days.  I know what you’re thinking!  Bless his little heart, right?  It was bad, ya’ll.  🙁  He would cringe when I used the other wipes.  Then it dawned on me, I should use the WaterWipes!  They are wipes after all!  I felt like an idiot but I shook it off and grabbed a pack of the WaterWipes.  Sufficient to say, he liked the change.  Now I only have to keep one pack of wipes in my diaper bag.  One terrific pack of wipes that doesn’t contain nasty chemicals.  If you have a little one or use baby wipes for anything check out WaterWipes!
