Lilla Rose Flexi Clip Review and Giveaway

This post contains the review of a Lilla Rose product given to me in exchange for sharing my opinion.

There I was, minding my own business, half-heartedly browsing a Facebook group for homeschooling parents.  I was trying to plan what extra “fun” things I’m going to try and add into this year’s curriculum when there it is.  It hit me like a pretty piece of metal. Umm,  Like a flexi clip.  Okay, I don’t have the words but it hit me.  And in a good way.  There it is, a beautiful head of hair pulled back with a single metal clip and a note that said something to the effect of, “I opened the doors this morning and I closed them late this afternoon and this hair clip hasn’t needed adjusted.”

Lilla Rose Flexi Clip Review

Boom! Right?  That would grab any woman’s attention.  Especially, this mom who (let’s be real) lives in a ponytail or twist up do with a boring black plastic clip most days.

I needed that secure clip in my life even if it was a little more glamorous than would naturally appear in my life.  I inquired to know more and found out that she has a Help for Hair facebook group (you can join it here if you’d like).  Brilliant name for her group, right?  It turned out that the group was very helpful.  Once accepted into the group I asked a lot of questions, found the correct size for my hair, and quickly added $70 in hair clips to my cart.  I loved the clips and had to have them in my life.  I wanted some for my daughter too, not all $70 worth was for myself (don’t worry, they aren’t that expensive!).

I saved these items to my cart and went about my day waiting for my daughter to wake up so I could ask her which of the clips I had saved were her favorites.  I’m usually good about guessing these things but she’s getting older now and it’s always best to double check.  While I was waiting, I noticed the stylist who shared this rescuer of my hair had requested to join my Live With Less Facebook group (you’re welcome to join here too!).  What a coincidence, I thought!  A little while later we were chatting and she suggested giving me a hair clip in exchange for hosting a giveaway on my site.  Now, normally I don’t do those but as I just told you, I had added quite a large list of items to my shopping cart and I thought why not save a little money….besides, I love to support small businesses and talk about what I’m passionate about and I was sure I would love these.  And I do.  I LOVE them!  Truly, truly.

Celtic Knot Hair Clip

Here I’m wearing the celtic knot in a large flexi clip.  It’s the one I chose to try out because it’s simple but fancy at the same time so it will go with a wide selection of clothing styles.  Plus, I just love celtic knots, don’t you?

This hairstyle was the first of many attempts to try new things.  I’m excited for the wide world of Lilla Rose hair style video tutorials.  The stylist I mentioned earlier, Kristi Bothur, has several great video tutorials in her Facebook group.

Mini Flexi Hair Clip

I bought my daughter a mini flexi hair clip and she loves it.

She was so proud that she wore a hair clip like her mommy.

Flexi Clip for Kids

Each month, Lilla Rose has a special they promote and this month is a free bobby with a $40 order and two with a $50 order.

Share Your Chiquita Smile & Win a Disney Vacation!

This post is in partnership with Mom It Forward Blogger Network and I’m being compensated by Chiquita for this post because I adore bananas!

Bananas are one of the staples moms always need to have on hand.  Maybe not all moms but I sure do anyway!  They’re a meal on the go.  They stow away nicely in diaper bags and purses alike.  They’re full of potassium and other goodies that most snacks don’t contain.  They’re the perfect on-the-go food to fuel moms, kids, toddlers, and babies.  Because they’re the best food on earth, they are always on my shopping list and they always give my family a smile.

We mostly eat bananas by themselves but they’re also great in cereal, in yogurt, with peanut butter (or almond butter…or cookie butter!!), and on peanut butter and banana sandwiches.  I’ve never had a banana split but I saw one at an ice cream shop last night and have decided that the next time we visit our family is going to share a banana split!

Things No One Tells You About Being a Mom + Starbucks Giveaway!

Thank you to Depend for sponsoring today’s conversation.

Things No One Tells You About Being a

Babies are marvelous aren’t they?  They come into our lives smelling sweetly like only a baby can smell, with soft skin, and tiny fingers.  They are expert cuddlers from the get-go and just as fast they have you wrapped around their finger.  No matter how many parenting books you’ve read, kid’s you’ve babysat, or birth stories you’ve watched, nothing will prepare you for the journey that is motherhood.

Babies are completely worth it but there are several things that no one tells you about motherhood beforehand.  I’ve rounded up a group of mama friends to give you the low-down on embarrassing mom moments no one ever warns you about.  We share these frank experiences, or words of wisdom, to help you to embrace motherhood with a bit more knowledge and confidence.

Names have been changed to protect the embarrassed. 🙂

Courtney: I pee on myself every time I sneeze, laugh, or cough… It’s horrible.

Bethany: My body odor changed.  Like after a workout, I’ll never be able to do anything but immediately shower.

Carrie: Baby happened to prefer the boob that was naturally larger anyways. Now I have huge boob and little boob.

Jenn: Yep, saggy boobs, floppy boobs, mushy boobs…sense a theme here? Lol feet grew a tiny bit with each pregnancy too so I’m now a size 9 instead of an 8. Ummmmm premature balding thanks to hormones….. Definitely cannot run or workout without peeing first haha

Judy: Nursing is a nightmare for the first few months, because my body thinks I have triplets. All I have to do is bend over, and it starts coming!. I remember just standing there in shock, watching this 3-foot spray coming out of me, while my husband just stood there and laughed.

Jenny:  I get SO HOT so easily now. (Not fun when you live in the south and most of the summer is 100* and 100% humidity) I sweat a lot more too and the odor. 🙁 I’m so embarrassed.  Also, I can’t start dishes or anything having to do with water until I go to the bathroom first. 😬

Ashley: Um… Wardrobe malfunctions due to toddlers performing alligator death rolls to escape.

Marcy: I have the inability to hold my pee sometimes.  There are times that I end up cleaning the bathroom floor after a failed attempt to get my pants down fast enough.

Sarah:  Cabin pressure mixed with full boobs equals milk facial for baby. Sorry baby…

Tiffany:  I second the squishy boob comment not to sound weird but I had really great boobs before I got pregnant. Didn’t really realize they’d get so…floppy… Lol

Alexia: with the saggy boobs..and hair loss!! If my hair doesn’t stop falling out, I’m gonna need some rogain soon!!  Oh and the trend where girls shave the side of their heads I’ve achieved that naturally, thank you hormones.

Anne: My boobs. I mean after #3 they just weren’t even close to the same.

Stephanie:  Mommy brain is a real thing! Hubby makes me close my eyes sometimes just to finish a sentence! And one time, I was with a couple of my close guy friends and one of them had to tell me I was leaking through my shirt…

Kristen: This isn’t really a body thing per se, but my child pulled my skirt down to my ankles in front of a window at a restaurant downtown during lunch hour.  Also my dad was there.

Lauren:  This one stretch mark on my boob is perfectly placed so a big blue vein shows through. It looks really funny lol.

Stacie:  My boobs don’t hang evenly. Or they aren’t the same size, not sure which it is.  It started during pregnancy! I need to find some thicker bras now or I’m always wearing patterned shirts to help camouflage the problem!

Ashli:  Jumping jacks are not the best form of exercise any more, unless you enjoy seeing yourself on every jumping Jack.

Catherine: The jiggling. When I jog, it sounds like my body is giving me a standing ovation…..

Brittany: Pretty sure I thought I had regained decent bladder control at 3 months PP but the trampoline park with my husband’s work proved me wrong…

Carla:  Awful hair postpartum! It fell out (as it’s supposed to) but I have curly hair and the new hair growing in at my part is an inch long and always frizzy! Not even hair spray can tame that beast!

Jessica: Feeling like you have an internal canyon just above your belly button from where your abs are trying to come back together.

Abigail: Oh, yeah, Jessica, the way your abs look when you try to do a sit-up. It freaked me out the first time I saw it! My Dr. said he had a patient who was a fitness trainer who tried to sue him because of that!

Crystal:  The loss of the ability to hold my flatulence. Working out, going to the park, making dinner… Seriously, I just cannot control it.

Heather:  The feeling that your insides are going to fall out with every step for the first…oh…2-3 months!  I was anxious to get back to running and when I did (after my 6-wk checkup), I almost looked behind me to be sure I hadn’t left my uterus a few steps back…

Meredith:  Finishing coaching a volleyball game only look down and find 2 ginormous wet circles on each boob. Lovely. Also the hair regrowth that sticks up straight and NOTHING will keep it down.

Hillary:  The fact that I just found a ginormous chunk of pizza that had been in my hair for 3 hours and I had no clue. Also, The faint smell of ketchup that plagues you all day until bed time when you realize that your toddler smeared ketchup across your chest at lunch.

There you have it!  Real life accounts from real moms.  Which was your favorite?

standing ovation

This quote from Catherine was my favorite! It’s also my least favorite because it’s so true!

I noticed a theme throughout these, did you?  Boobs and pee.  I have no advice to help you get your pre-baby boobs back but at least there are products out there to help you with the pee.  Kegels are great but while you’re working those muscles back into shape you might want to look into Depend’s Silhouette Active Fit briefs.  They have a low rise style for young moms.  Did you know that there are more people with bladder leakage in their 20’s than in their 80’s?  Before having kids I would have never believed it!  Want a free sample?  Go here to request your free sample of Depend Silhouette Active Fit.

Motherhood is a journey and as anyone who has ever been on a road trip will attest, it’s more fun with friends.  The best advice I can offer new moms is to befriend other moms, especially veteran moms.  You need someone who understands you and someone that will pick out that food that’s been in your hair all day.

In celebration of motherhood I have a small giveaway for you.  Enter via the Rafflecopter below to win a cup of coffee for you to enjoy the next chance you get a little “mom time” (via a $10 Starbucks gift card).

5 Travel Tips + a Giveaway Ends March 20th

Spring is finally here, and I’m teaming up with Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus to share five travel hacks that you’ll love, along with a great giveaway offer. One lucky winner will take home a Travel Pack from Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus valued at $150 (including a $50 Target gift card!)

Five Travel Hacks You’ll Love

Five travel hacks you'll love (especially #2) - and a giveaway!

1. Roll; Don’t Fold
As you pack, roll your clothes instead of folding them. You’ll be able to fit up to two times the amount of clothing by rolling them as you would by folding them.

2. Pack your “Iron”
And by iron, we mean Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus. The 3 oz travel size meets airline standards. Slip it into your carry-on bag, and with a simple spray, you’ll be wrinkle free all trip long. (It’s also a great fabric refresher if you have to wear your clothes more than once on vacation.) Click here to read more and grab a coupon.

3. Bring an Empty Water Bottle
After you get through security, several airports have filtered water stands to fill your bottle. You’ll also find that most airport cafes will gladly fill your water bottle as well.

4. Snap a Picture
If you’re checking your luggage, snap a picture of your suitcase contents before you leave the house. If the airline loses your luggage, you’ll be able to use the picture to prove the value of the contents.

5. BYO Blanket
Blankets on airlines are hard to come by these days – and they’re not always washed between flights. If you tend to get cold on planes, or you’re going to be flying overnight, pack your own blanket to stay comfortable.

Enter to Win a Travel Pack from Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus

One lucky winner will receive a travel pack valued at $150, including a travel tote, a Tervis Tumbler, Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus and a $50 Target gift card.

Giveaway ends at midnight on Friday, March 20, 2015. Open to US and Canada.

Complete the form below to enter. Good luck!

#BabyGotMoves with Pampers – Giveaway Ends 9/13

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Pampers Baby Dry

I’m not a morning person, not even a little bit, so it’s important to me that my kids sleep through the night.  If I don’t get enough sleep I’m extra grumpy in the morning and that’s not good for anyone.  Pampers helps my son sleep through the night without waking up wet.

Pampers Size 3

Trust me, I’m not just saying that because Pampers gave me a few diapers {I would never do that!}.  Just last night I put a diaper on him from another brand.  It was my fault;  I ran out of the supply of Pampers on the changing table and was too lazy to go to the closet to get more so I used one of our back up diapers.  Thankfully he didn’t wake up during the night but my poor sweetheart was soaked in pee when he got up. : (  My husband was the one who changed him and he said that he’s never “peed through” like this before. I felt awful.

Pampers Baby Dry diapers keep my little one dry at night and during the day while he’s squirming and wiggling around.  He can’t exactly crawl yet but he can wiggle and roll his way around the living room.  It’s a slow process but he gets where he’s going.  Trust me, epic cuteness!  Lately, he has loved to go over to his sister’s child size piano and stretch up to play it.  It’s adorable!  I’ll have to take a video and show you.

To celebrate dry mornings, Pampers is asking parents to show off their baby’s morning dance routine by uploading videos to Instagram and Facebook using hashtag #BabyGotMoves. Uploaded videos have the chance to appear in a shareable compilation video created by Pampers at the close of the initiative.

Not only that but Pampers is offering YOU the chance to win a #BabyGotMoves Pampers giveaway right here on Embracing Homemaking!

Package Includes (estimated value $100):

  • – Homedics Jam Plus Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
  • – Baby Einstein Octoplush
  • – Bright Starts Pretty In Pink Get Movin’ Music Player
  • – The Baby Hustle: An Interactive Book with Wiggles and Giggles!
  • – Pampers Sensitive Wipes
  • – Pampers Baby Dry Diapers
