I participated in the NIOXIN 30 Day Challenge as a member of One2One Network. This post is sponsored by NIOXIN but all opinions are my own.
Pregnancy is a wonderful miracle, there’s no denying that. Some, shall we say, side effects of pregnancy are difficult to prepare yourself for. one of those being postpartum hair loss. This one struck me blindsided. None of the pregnancy books I read mentioned this or if they did I sure breezed over it. I had no idea what to do and was worried I would lose it all. A few friends calmed my nerves and it did eventually quit. After my second child I feel more and more self conscious about my thinning hair. My hair is already fine as can be so when it thins out after each pregnancy I miss the little volume I once had. Luckily, I ran across a product that is specially formulated to create the optimal scalp environment to tackle thinning hair & promote thicker, fuller-looking, healthier hair. The brand name is NIOXIN.
Now that I think of it I remember that my grandmother had thinning hair and swore by this stuff! As you probably know thinning hair affects men and women of all ages. The cause is often genetic but can also be triggered by certain life stages. Sigh. It’s definitely in my genes on both sides. Understanding what causes thinning hair and knowing the early warning signs to look out for can help you in defense against thinning hair.
The causes of hair loss: Genetics, Nutrition and diet, Stress and trauma, Health issues, Medication, Environmental factors, and Postpartum.
I was invited to take the 30 Day Nioxin Challenge which consists of using Nioxin’s 3-step hair care routine picked specifically for my hair type for 30 days and see if I could see the results of extra fullness and increased hair growth.
NIOXIN comes in several different system kits as follows:
- – System Kit 1 – Specially designed for normal to thin-looking, fine, natural hair. It amplifies hair texture while refreshing the scalp and delivering a healthy shine.
- – System Kit 2 – Specially designed for noticeably thinning, fine, natural (no chemical processes like color or relaxing) hair. It delivers denser-looking hair and a healthy shine while protecting the scalp.
- – System Kit 3 – Specially designed for normal to thin-looking, fine, chemically treated hair. It amplifies hair texture while refreshing the scalp and providing moisture balanced to colored hair.
- – System Kit 4 – Specially designed for noticeably thinning, fine, chemically treated hair. It delivers denser-looking hair while protecting the scalp and providing moisture balance to colored hair
- – System Kit 5 – Specially designed for normal to thin-looking, medium to coarse, natural (no chemical processes like color or relaxing) or chemically treated hair. It delivers smoothing control to hair while refreshing the scalp and restoring moisture balance.
- – System Kit 6 – Specially designed for noticeably thinning, medium to coarse, natural (no chemical processes like color or relaxing) or chemically treated hair. It delivers smoothing control to hair while protecting the scalp and restoring moisture balance.
After taking the NIOXIN survey I found that System Kit 1 was for me.
Kit 1 included a cleanser (shampoo), scalp therapy (similar to a conditioner that is for all of your hair, not just the tips), and scalp treatment that you massage into towel dried hair. The products were easy to use without adding much time to my morning routine. This is definitely a doable system.
I loved NIOXIN’s Bodifying Foam, it really did work to get me more volume at my roots and all over. The Night Density Rescue was nice too.
The NIOXIN products did give my hair a bit more volume and even though my hair is incredibly long now (I’m long overdue for a hair cut but I’m at the point that I’m going to hold out a bit longer and donate it to a charity) it did feel lighter and fuller. I was truly impressed how the scalp treatment didn’t weigh my hair down even more or leave it looking dirty. The Slip brand silk pillowcase was a nice treat! My grandma always had one and now I know why! It’s good for anti-aging, anti-sleep crease, and anti-bed head.
The top picture was 30 days ago, the middle picture was taken during the challenge (I’m frustrated by thinning hair, that’s the look I was going for), the bottom was is the most recent picture after the challenge is complete. From these pictures I can tell my my hair looks a little more fuller now than when I began. …and I can tell that I like stripes. 🙂
I’m pleased with the results and plan to continue using it to see how much better my hair can look. Do you struggle with thinning hair?
