This is a sponsored post with Mums the Word Network and Doctor on Demand. All opinions are my own.
When I first heard about video chats with doctors I was hesitant. I figured you’d have to share confidential information on a shady website, make sure insurance would cover the cost, etc., etc. The idea sounded revolutionary but I was leery on the details. That’s why I’m so glad I was introduced to Doctor On Demand!
Doctor On Demand is an app-based video service that provides people with instant access to board certified physicians, psychologists, and even lactation consultants via smartphones, tablets, and computers.
This is perfect for moms who’s little one is sick on a weekend and doesn’t want to drag their sick kiddo to a walk-in clinic or urgent care. Or like my scenario today, I had a video session about my son’s fever instead of bringing both my son and daughter to the sick side of the doctor’s office.
Here are the simple steps I took to have my doctor visit:
- I downloaded Doctor On Demand app on iOS (also available on Android). You could also go to DoctorOnDemand.com if your computer has a webcam and microphone built in or set up.
- I created an account which took a matter of seconds. No insurance necessary!
- From there I chose the type of doctor I wanted. The choices were Medical, Pediatrics, Psychology or Pregnancy & Newborns.
- I could have scheduled an appointment time for later but I chose to speak to the doctor right away. I answered a few questions related to my son’s symptoms, medications, allergies, and I gave a brief summary of why I was calling in. I also chose my preferred pharmacy in case a prescription was ordered.
- Moments later the doctor was there asking me questions. I was very impressed with how quickly a doctor was available! She was very kind, listened, calmed my fears, and gave me great advice for treatment.
Medical & Pediatric video sessions are $40 each for 15 minutes, and Psychologist start at $50 and Lactation Consultants at $40.
Now that Doctor On Demand is available in nearly every state, you won’t have to leave the comfort of your own home to talk to a doctor, and get a prescription, when you or your child is sick.
