Yesterday, when sharing about my desire to make my home a haven I touched on a few reasons why I want this but today I want to expound on that a bit.
Whether you label me a stay at home mom, homeschooling mom, or work from home mom, the truth is, I’m home a lot. On the good days you can find me at home, on the bad days you can find me at home, and on the really good days, well, you can usually find me at home. I’m not one of those SAHMs that take them on excursions daily and has memberships at all the locals museums, zoos, and libraries. I kind of wish I was but I’m too much a stickler to our nap schedule and too afraid of public meltdowns for that. But that’s veering off subject. The point I’m trying to make is that I’m home a lot so for my own selfish reasons I would like for my home to be a haven.
1.) For me, myself, and I – I desire a haven-like environment for my own sanity and peace of mind. Call me selfish, I’m okay with that.
2.) For my kids – Less clutter means a calmer mama. Better organization means less time searching for their favorite toys. A serene environment will help kids play better because they’re not overwhelmed with toy options.
3.) For my husband – I want my husband come home to a restful house. Peaceful. Soothing. Relaxing. Sure, there will still be days when he comes home to find dinner not fixed, a fussy baby, a crabby toddler, dishes in the sink, a disaster in the living room, and a wife who’s ready to pull her hair out. I just want to minimize those days. When my husband comes home to dinner that’s ready, a happy baby, a smiling wife ready with a kiss, and a toddler that’s waiting eagerly at the door for it to open – there’s an indescribable joy that’s evident by his countenance. I want to see that joy more often.
Do you desire to create a haven in your home? If so, what fuels that desire?
